Take My Idea and Roll With it!

I envision a day when I can ride my bike or a hike along the wonderful trails of Bob Jones, Railroad Safety Trail,  Bill Roalman Bike Blvd, Cal Poly, Eucs, Reservoir Canyon ...(name your spot), see and hear a bicycle wind-chime along the route. Here's a recipe card just for you to use on your next Guerrilla Art project.

Here are the final pieces:

    Brutality on Bikes

Cyclocross will descend upon the Central Coast December 9th at El Chorro Regional Park. If you have never seen a cyclocross race, do yourself a favor and check it out. The artist (me) will be signing a limited amount of posters in trade for a $5 donation to the SLO County Bicycle Coalition. Check out how others enjoy Cyclocross as a participant and a spectator.

    Xcross Sketch

Cyclocross is again coming to SLO County in fall/winter and I love this spectator sport. It's a chance to watch modern day martyrs flog themselves silly for no other reason than to claim they beat their competitors. It's a chance to bring my bamboo fishing pole, attach dollar bills as bait and go fishing in the pool of participants. It's a chance to watch the rad girls who can certainly kick my ass sideways. This illustration is an homage to the Joan of Arcs who attack and don't back off. Cheers to you!

    From the Design Vault...

I found a drawer of old stuff. This is a sticker that went on the back of your skateboard truck. It came in a bag of truck nuts and bolts. I still like animating inanimate objects.

I recently bought a Panasonic FZ150 and started playing around with its photo settings. This particular setting is "pinhole". I'm still not good enough to photograph without messing with the results in Photoshop and I tend to like the results on the artsy side rather than purely technical. I consider my style "shoot from the hip" and the results can even surprise me!

    Fresh Graphic

Elder in-home care that shows a care giving team working for central coast seniors.

    • The color palette reflects the variety of care provided.
    • The "Peds" high five showing teamwork and coordination.
    • The cocooned house shows familiar home surroundings.
    • The typeface is soothing and easy to read for "older eyes".

    The Ernie Kovacs Show

I remember my dad watching this weird show. Little did I know it would affect my future so deeply. I truly believe humor is inherited.

    Keith Haring

Keith Haring was an artist that spoke to me. It was my awakening to the concept that art didn't have to hang in a gallery, that art at it's true essence, was to be shared and not reserved. His art is original, but his influences and fellow artists fuel that fire to create and make it his own. The Brooklyn Museum has done a great job in giving us a taste of his current show through sketches and his personal journal entries.

    Fresh T-shirt/Poster graphic

Superbowl Sunday is coming up and I have been designated as T-shirt designer for the Montana de Oro Trail Works day. The inspiration comes from the McLeod - the standard trail building tool of the Central Coast Concerned Mountainbikers, the IMBA and CCC Forestry. The roman numerals are a salute to the game of football and a good way of keeping track of just how many of these superbowl sunday trail days there have been!

I gave the overall graphic that pre-worn look that is so popular today. I prefer this trend because I HATE shirts with a big patch of ink on my chest. It makes me itch and break out in a rash (oops, too much information)...
